Larry’s mother lost his custody when he was a child. After that, he lived with his grandmother in New York City.
When he was 11 years old, he was put in foster care.
Larry Wheels moved with his mother to Saint Martin in the French Caribbean when he was 12 years old.

When he was 14 years old, he started lifting weights using a broomstick and cinder blocks. He did not attend school.
When he was 15 years old, he and his mother moved to New York, where he joined a gym.

Larry Wheels was stronger than most men at his gym when he was 16 years old.
He then started training under John Gaglione, a coach from Long Island, New York, who was a former wrestler and used to train Division I wrestlers and competitive powerlifters. John Gaglione transformed Larry’s lifts completely.

When Larry Wheels was 18 years old, Larry Wheels entered his first powerlifting contest in November 2013, winning first place in the 275 lb weight class.
In November 2017, when he was 22 years old, he set a world record after lifting 2,275 lb in the 275 lb weight class.
In February 2018, three months after his powerlifting record, Larry competed in his first bodybuilding contest and won the NPC Gold Coast Muscle Classic Overall Bodybuilding competition in California.

In November 2018, he placed 11th at the NPC National Championships, USA.
Apart from powerlifting and bodybuilding, Larry Wheels also participates in unconventional lifts, arm wrestling, and strongman contests.
In 2018, he founded Team Personal Record, a fitness apparel brand, in Los Angeles, California, and began working as its president.

In 2020, he set another world record after lifting 2,370 lbs in the 308 lb weight class, with an 870 lb squat, 645 lb bench press, and 855 lb deadlift.
In a 2021 YouTube video, Larry Wheels lifted 900 lbs weight while wearing only a belt and knee sleeves.

In June 2022, he bench pressed 675 lbs at 275 lbs weight class.
In another June 2022 video, Larry Wheels deadlifted 930 lbs in three rounds while using straps and hitches.
In many YouTube videos, he has talked about starting taking steroids at the age of 16, introduced by one of his seniors at a gym, and has used them since to increase his strength for powerlifting contests.
In August 2022, Larry Wheels announced he stopped using steroids and switched to testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) to reduce the negative effects of steroids.
While practising for strongman competitions, Larry reportedly eats up to 8,000 calories a day.
