Lamine was 3 years old when his parents separated from each other.
Lamine’s football journey started at the age of 4 when he began playing football at the club La Torreta.
Lamine has been associated with FC Barcelona since the age of 7 when he joined the club from CF La Torreta. Before signing him, Barcelona had already scouted him at the age of 6 and even invited him to training sessions at La Masia several times.
Lamine’s mother hails from Equatorial Guinea, and his father is from Morocco. To display his family roots, there are flags of both countries on his Adidas F50 boots.
Lamine’s father is a fan of FC Real Madrid, a rival club of FC Barcelona.

In September 2022, Lamine’s career took a U-turn when he was invited to train with the first team of FC Barcelona, along with other youngsters of the FC Barcelona Juvenil team.
On 29 April 2023, at the age of 15, Lamine became the youngest player since 1922 to debut for FC Barcelona’s first team.

Lamine won his first La Liga title with FC Barcelona on 14 May 2023. He was part of the 2022-23 squad of FC Barcelona which won the title.
On 20 August 2023, Lamine played his first match for FC Barcelona against Cádiz CF at the Estadi OlÃmpic LluÃs Companys. The match ended in a 2-0 victory for FC Barcelona.
By 16, Yamal completed 50 appearances for FC Barcelona in all the competitions. He also became the youngest player to record an assist and score a brace in La Liga before he turned 17.
Before making his debut for Spain’s national team, Lamine played for Spain’s U15 and U16 national teams. He also represented Spain U17 in the 2023 European U17 Championship in which he helped his team to reach the semifinals by scoring 4 goals.
On 8 September 2023, Lamine became the youngest player to debut for the Spain national football team at the age of 16 years and 57 days. He even scored a goal on his debut against Georgia in the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers making him the youngest goalscorer of Spain.
Lamine made his UEFA Champions League debut on 19 September 2023 for FC Barcelona against Royal Antwerp F.C. In the match, Barcelona won a 5–0 victory.
Lamine’s senior debut goal came for FC Barcelona in an away match on 8 October 2023 against Granada CF.
Lamine was selected in the 26-man squad for the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament and debuted on 15 June 2024 against Croatia.
Lamine made headlines on 9 July 2024 when he scored a goal against France in the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament’s semifinals and helped Spain qualify for the finals.
