In February 2023, it was reported that the Income Tax officer-turned-actor, Kirti Verma, was under the scanner of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for being one of the beneficiaries of proceeds of crime in connection with a case relating to fraudulent issuance of TDS refunds amounting to Rs 263 crore from the Income Tax department. Reportedly, she has close ties with one of the accused persons who illegally received tax refund for which te ED called her many times to join the investigation.
