She was not even 10-year-old when she was held captive by a landlord in the Umerkot district, near Tharparkar desert in the south of Sindh.
By the age of 16, she got married while still studying in class 9th.
According to reports, her husband supported her in her studies.
Her brother, Veerji Kohli has also been a bonded labourer. In 2010, he fought for a Hindu gang-rape victim, Kasturi Kohli.
Krishna Kumari is now a household name in Thar and its nearby districts; as she has been fighting there for human rights of the underprivileged, uneducated people, living in the remote areas of the Tharparkar desert.
In February 2018, she became the first female Hindu lawmaker in Pakistan since 1947.
