She belongs to a middle-class Marathi family.

Shahane was very good at academics in her childhood. While she was in school, she developed an interest in acting at a very young age. Shahane received an opportunity to perform in a folk ballet “Durga Zhaali Gauri” when she was in 9th standard. Thereafter, she did a number of professional plays.
When Kishori was in 11th standard, she bagged the role in the Marathi Film “Prem Karuya Khullam Khulla” along with Ashok Saraf and (Late) Laxmikant Berde.
During college, she won the title of ‘Miss Mithibai.’
She is a trained Indian Classical and Folk Dancer.

She met Deepak Balraj Vij (now her husband) during the shooting of the movie ‘Hafta Bandh.’ It was Jackie Shroff who introduced Kishori Shahane to Deepak Balraj Vij.
Her son Bobby acted in two films based on the life of Sai Baba as a child artist.
In 2003, she was a runner-up in the Mrs. Gladrags Beauty contest.
She shot to fame with the Marathi films “Maherchi Sadi” and “Wajva Re Wajva.” Shahane has featured in many Marathi films like “Ek Daaw Dhobi Pachhad,” “Nawara Majha Nawasacha,” “Ekulati Ek,” “Narbachi Wadi,” and “Balache Baap Bramhachari.”
She has also appeared in many Bollywood films including “Shirdi Sai Baba,” “Hafta Bandh,” “Pyar Ka Devta,” “Shagird,” “Superstar,” “Anuradha,” “Policegiri,” and “Mohenjo Daro.”
Shahane has played varied characters in TV serials like “Sindoor Tere Naam Ka,” “Kabhie To Nazar Milao,” “Aise Karo Naa Vidaa,” “Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli,” “Sunder Maza Ghar,” and “Jadubai Jorat.”
Shahane has also produced two films based on the life of Shirdi Sai Baba.
