She began her modelling career at the age of 17.
In 1985, she entered the film industry with the film, âPatthar Dilâ as a supporting actress. The same year, she appeared in âAdventures of Tarzan;â which was her first film as a lead actress.

Later, she continued to work in films such as Mard Ki Zabaan, Mera Lahoo, Vardi, and others, but didnât get the fame.
In 1991, she did a film, âHumâ opposite Amitabh Bachchan . This film was the first big hit of her career which claim her to fame. The song, âJumma Chumma De Deâ from the film became very popular and is still considered as one of the famous songs in the Indian Film Industry.
Last, she appeared in the film, âZulm Ki Hukumatâ in 1992. After doing this film, she took a break from the film industry and got married to Shantanu Sheorey.
