Some Lesser Known Facts About Kim Ye-ji
She started training for shooting events when she was in 6th class.
She started competing in shooting events in 2006.
She was inspired to take up shooting after she saw her seniors look cool when shooting.
Initially, her parents were against her taking the sport. To convince them, she refused to eat for three days.
She stopped participating in the shooting events from 2016 to 2023 and even quit shooting for a year as she felt she wasn’t having fun anymore.
She went viral during the 2024 Summer Olympics due to her stylish appearance and charisma.

Her style was compared to fictional characters such as James Bond and John Wick and she was labelled online as a sci-fi assassin.
She held an elephant figurine in her left hand while shooting which many thought was a gift from her daughter. Instead, it was a towel given by her coach to keep her hands dry.
She failed to qualify for the 25-meter women’s final at the Paris Olympics after missing the timing of her shot by 0.01 seconds.
At the same time, a video of her calm demeanour after setting a world record in the 25m pistol event during the ISSF World Cup, held in Baku, in May 2024 went viral.

In an interview, she talked about being a sleepy person and her habit of taking naps during the shooting sessions.
After getting viral on social media, she thanked entrepreneur Elon Musk for his comments, calling her to be cast in an action movie on one of her clips on X (formerly Twitter) which helped her go viral on the internet.
In August 2024, after returning to South Korea from the 2024 Summer Olympics, she fainted during a press conference due to stress and exhaustion. She was immediately rushed to the hospital.
