Kavin Raj was born into a middle-class family in Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu.

When Kavin was in the final semester of his college, he cleared an audition by Star Vijay and dropped his studies to make a career in acting.
His portrayal of the role of âVettaiyanâ aka âSaravana Perumalâ in season 2 of âSaravanan Meenatchiâ earned him immense popularity.
In 2015, he appeared as a co-host in the Vijay Television Awards.
Kavin has also hosted the season 2 of the reality TV show âKings of Dance.â
He has appeared in many Tamil serials including âKana Kaanum Kaalangal,â âMurugan,â âSaravanan Meenatchi,â and âSaravanan Meenatchi 2.â
His first income was of Rs. 1000 which he earned by working at a CD shop. He spent that money to buy a saree for his mother.
His name was recommended for the film Pizza by the director Karthik Subbaraj.
He is a movie buff. Kavin told during an interview that he can stay in a theatre even for 4 days watching films.
Kavin tried getting a role in the first season of the serial âKana Kaanum Kalangalâ but he landed the role only in its sequel. In fact, the role was earlier offered to Irfan who rejected it owing to his busy schedule.
