Some Lesser Known Facts About Kathy Sabine
Before studying journalism, she pursued a degree in veterinary science and started working as a veterinary doctor.
While studying at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, she worked as a production intern at KSBY NBC-TV. During that time, she worked behind the scenes in the TV production as a chyron operator, camera operator, audio technician, floor director, and tape operator.
Thereafter, she started working in Television as a forecaster.
In 1993, she joined 9News and worked as the lead forecaster on 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10 p.m. newscasts from Monday to Friday.

In 2020, she was named the best meteorologist by the Colorado Broadcasters Association (CBA).
She has received seven Heartland Emmy Awards, five CBA awards, and one AP award for best meteorologist.

Later, she started working at an NBC affiliate in San Luis Obispo.
