After completing her formal education, Karina Irby worked as an instructor at Walkin’ On Water Surf School in Greenmount, Queensland.
Growing up near the beach, she was always interested in swimwear.
In 2011, Karina Irby founded one of Australia’s biggest bikini brands, Moana Bikini.
She decided it was time to start her own business after being let go from her retail job at a surf shop due to a rumour.
Karina Irby borrowed $800 from her dad and began working with a Hawaiian company that made bold, cheeky swimsuits.
According to her, working with the Hawaiian company was successful, but they wanted her to be their only distributor in Australia. However, she wanted full control over the design, marketing, and sales of the brand.

Karina Irby worked hard to build her brand through social media, running contests and encouraging likes and shares to grow her following.
After that, she started Bikini Body Burn, a 12 Week Guide, which offered nutrition advice and workouts for women aiming for a bikini-ready body.
In 2013, her father had a serious beach accident that left him mostly paralyzed below the neck.
In May 2024, Karina Irby shared a message from someone on social media who called her “obese” and accused her of promoting an unhealthy lifestyle.
