Controversies Fight with Gautam Gambhir

On 19 June 2010, while playing against India in 2010 Asia Cup, he got into a fight with Gautam Gambhir
. Later, he clarified that during the match, Gambhir yelled an abusive word which was not directed towards anyone but Akmal thought that Gambhir was abusing him, hence he confronted him. They later had a heated argument before the on-field umpires separated them.



Fight with Ishant Sharma

On 25 December 2012, while playing against India in a T20I match in Bangalore, he got into a fight with the Indian bowler Ishant Sharma
who was bowling 18th over of the innings. Akmal later clarified that while bowling, Sharma used an abusive word towards him, and Akmal replied with many abusive words. They started having a verbal fight with each other on pitch before MS Dhoni
and Suresh Raina
separated the players. Sharma was fined 15% match fees while Akmal was fined 5% match fees by the match referee Roshan Mahanama.



Insulting remarks about Sikhs

After Pakistan's loss to India in the 2024 T20 World Cup on 9 June 2024, Kamran Akmal was present with other cricketers during a panel discussion on ARY News. He made a statement that the over should not be given to Arshdeep Singh
who was a Sikh player as the clock showed the local time was 12 noon. His statement was a reference to a controversial joke which is often associated with Sikhs. Later, Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh
criticized Akmal for his comments and said that Sikhs saved several people when invaders attacked them. Singh later called Akmal a Nalayak (worthless) person. Akmal later issued a formal apology on Twitter to Harbhajan Singh
and Sikh community all around the world.

  • Kamran Akmal liked playing cricket since childhood. He also liked flying kites when he was young.

  • He started playing tape-ball cricket with his friends in his locality. He later started helping his father at his welding shop before he was selected for the Pakistan Under-15 team.

  • He later played for various age-group teams of Pakistan such as Pakistan Under-15 in 1996 and Pakistan Under-19 in 1997.

  • On 24 November 2017, during the 2017-2018 National T20 Cup, he scored 150 runs in 71 balls for Lahore Whites against Islamabad. He became the first batsman to score 150 runs in a T20 format of the game and hit most sixes in a domestic T20 match in Pakistan.
