K. V. Vijayendra Prasad is an Indian film screenwriter and director in Telegu, and Hindi films.
The most difficult time for K. V. Vijayendra Prasad was in 1989 when he was struggling in Chennai with his four families living in one double-bed apartment and only his nephew, the Indian film composer, playback singer and lyricist MM Keeravani had a job as a music assistant and would bring home Rs. 200 every day with which they ran the house.
In 1988, K. V. Vijayendra Prasad started his career as an assistant to his elder brother, Koduri Siva Shakthi Datta, who is the father of Indian film composer, playback singer and lyricist MM Keeravani. Though Vijayendraâs brother Koduri Siva Shakthi Datta did not succeed as a writer but helping him made Vijayendra realized that he too could write, and in an interview, Vijayendra said
The person I love the most is my eldest brother, Koduri Siva Shakthi Datta, who is ten years older than me and whatever I am, it is because of his guidance and blessings. I am making a living today because of his talent that he could not utilise, but I have taken a little from him.â

In 1994, K. V. Vijayendra Prasad got his first break as an independent writer, and his journey started from there.
Vijayendra and Raja Nandani had a love marriage. Lately, Raja Nandani suffered a stroke and was in a coma for six months before she died on 21st October 2012. In remembrance of his late wife, K. V. Vijayendra Prasad said,
Though Raja Nandani saw a little of our sonâs success, it would have been a special moment if she had seen the success of Baahubali.â

Vijayendra wrote an epic blockbuster film, Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which was released in 2015 and 2017 respectively. Both the films were directed by K. V. Vijayendra Prasadâs son, S. S. Rajamouli , and together both films grossed-up Rs. 3,616 crore at the box office not only in India but also worldwide, and in an interview, K. V. Vijayendra Prasad said,
My son while making Baahubali once asked me, âYou know why I am making this movie?â I asked him, âWhy?â and he said, âMy lifeâs ambition is to make Mahabharat. This is a precursor. I wanted to test myself. If I am successful at this, I will make Mahabharat.â
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion
While talking about the success of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion , Vijayendra said,
I am very happy for Baahubali 2: The Conclusion as it has created an unprecedented record. I just love the name Devsena, you can call it a lucky mascot though my favourite character is Sivagami as she has so many shades to her character. Devsena is also a good character but it doesnât have shades as much as Sivagami. Baahubali is a period film. You cannot restrict to a particular region or language. Since it is set in an old era, Baahubali crosses the threshold of the region as far as the story is concerned. If I had to cast someone from Bollywood for the film, that would have been Hrithik Roshan as Baahubali and Deepika Padukone as Devsena.â
The initial choice for Kattappa was an Indian actor Sanjay Dutt and for Sivagami late Indian actress Sridevi . Since Sanjay Dutt was undergoing his prison sentence at that time, the Baahubali team was left with no other option but to look for another actor for the role of Kattappa, and Sridevi refused the offer because she was not satisfied with the remuneration given to her for the role of Sivagami.

In 2015, an Indian Hindi Film Bajrangi Bhaijaan, written by K. V. Vijayendra Prasad and directed by Kabir Khan got so much national recognition and in an interview, while talking about the success of the movie at global level, Salman Khan said,
Bajrangi Bhaijaan got so much appreciation, love, and respect across the globe and special thanks to Vijayendra sir for coming up with such an amazing storyline that beautifully defines humanity. Since I am from a writers background I really liked the script, and thought of producing it though we first asked Vijayendra sir that why he didnât give this project to his son to which he said I didnât give this movie to my son because there will language issue and if this movie has to be made, it has to be made very authentically.â
In 2019, Vijayendra wrote an Indian drama film Manikarnika centred on the life of the Rani Lakshmi bai of Jhansi, featuring Kangana Ranaut as lead, and in an interview, while talking about Ranautâs acting in the film K. V. Vijayendra Prasad said,
In an age where earning the position of a leading lady in Bollywood is so challenging, Kangana Ranaut went on to shoulder a film without anyoneâs support. She is indeed a self-made actress.â

While talking about the movie Rise Roar Revolt (RRR), directed by his son, and a noted filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli , K. V. Vijayendra Prasad said,
For the first time, I got tears while watching the stunt sequences in the RRR. There is so much pain in the drama and it will certainly connect with the viewers,â

K. V. Vijayendra Prasad is an old-fashioned film writer who doesnât actually write a story but narrates it. He initially creates an idea and slowly builds on it. In an interview, Vijayendra said,
A story is nothing but a string of lies. You take one lie, then add one more to it and go on like that. Put together, all the lies must be so well-told that they look like the truth and I am an expert liar.â
