Some Lesser Known Facts About K. Shivaram
After completing his school education, K. Shivaram completed some typing and shorthand courses in both English and Kannada languages in 1972.
Thereafter, he joined a government job and became a police reporter at the Crime Investigation Department in Karnataka in May 1973. While working, he pursued his higher education through correspondence from the open university of Mysore.
In 1985, K. Shivaram passed the Karnataka Administrative Service (K.A.S.) exam and became a Deputy Superintendent of Police.

In 1986, he became an Assistant Commissioner of Police after he cleared the Karnataka Administrative Service exam for the second time and was ranked first among the scheduled caste category candidates.

During his training at Karnataka Police Academy, K. Shivaram passed the civil services exam (UPSC). He then became an I.A.S., which was his childhood dream.

Upon clearing UPSC, he became the first person in India to pass the IAS Exam in the Kannada Language.
In 1993, K. Shivaram began working in Kannada films. His debut film āBaa Nalle Madhuchandrakeā was directed by Nagathihalli Chandrashekar in the same year.

In 2011, K. Shivaram founded the Chalavadi Mahasabha, a charitable trust in Karnataka, and began working as its president. He then founded and served as the president of the Dalita Maha Sabha in Karnataka. He also held the position of general secretary at the Harijan Sevak Sangh in Karnataka.
In 2013, he joined politics and became a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) after retiring from his position as Bangalore Regional Commissioner.
In 2014, K. Shivaram left INC and joined Janata Dal (Secular) as its member and contested the legislative assembly elections from the Bijapur constituency but lost the election against Ramesh Jigajinagi.

In the same year, he left JD(S) and once again became a member of the Indian National Congress, supporting the appointment of a Dalit leader, Dr G. Parameshwar, as Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka. This support caused controversy during the legislative assembly elections.
On 14 October 2016, K. Shivaram joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after expressing dissatisfaction with the recognition of a Dalit in higher positions within the Indian National Congress politics.

He then began working as a State Executive Committee member of Karnataka.
