Justin got inspiration to play cricket from his uncle Robbie Langer (a former cricketer of Western Australia) and father Colin, who was a Western Australian club level cricketer and state level baseball player.
His mother Joy-Anne died of ovarian cancer at the age of 68.
According to Justin, Buddhist meditation and Catholic faith gave him a great strength during his motherâs battle with cancer.Â
He is an ambassador for âSolaris Cancer Careâ at Brookfield.
He got training in the Australian Cricket Academy (ACA), along with Greg Blewett, Shane Warne and Damien Martyn.
Justin has a regret that he couldnât complete his graduation (in English Literature, Economics and Human Biology) when he was selected by the ACA.
In 1990, he got a scholarship from the Australian Cricket Academy, while taking training at the Australian Institute of Sport.
In 1997, during his Australian tour of Sri Lanka, he met many Buddhist monks and got an attraction for the Buddhist philosophy and discipline.
In 2002, he hit 250 runs (one of his careerâs best performances) against England at MCG in Melbourne.
In 2006, in First Class Cricket, Langer scored 342 runs against Somerset at Sports Ground, Woodbridge Road in Guildford.
Justin is the nephew of an Australian cricketer Rob Langer.
He had a long-term affair with his high school girlfriend Sue, whom he married later.Â
He is a good martial artist who received the rank of âShodan-Ho in Zen Do Kai,â a martial arts system founded in 1970.
During the early and mid-2000s, his opening batting partnership with Matthew Hayden was really famous; as both represented Australia in more than 100 Test innings and hit 5654 runs together.Â
At the point of his 100th Test, he suffered a lot due to his cracked rib and a hamstring problem.Â
In total 105 tests, he scored 7696 runs at the average of 45.27.
Justin played 360 First Class matches in which he made total 28382 runs (average- 50.23).Â
In 239 List A matches, he hit 7875 runs (average- 38.60).
On 1 January 2007, Langer decided to take retirement from the Test cricket after the 5th Ashes Test against England.
From November 2009 to November 2012, he remained a batting coach and senior assistant coach of Australian cricket team.
In November 2012, he was appointed as a senior coach of Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers.
In July 2017, he became a member of the âWest Coast Eaglesâ football club board.Â
In May 2018, Langer took the responsibility of the coaching of the Australian national cricket team.
From his school days, Justin has an inclination to writing and chooses a descriptive style of writing.Â
Langer loves literature and is considered one of the best cricketer-writers in Australia, who authored the books- âFrom Outback to Outfieldâ: A Revealing Diary of Life on the County Cricket Circuit, âThe Power of Passionâ (an autobiography), âAshes Frontlineâ: The Ashes War Diaries of Steve Harmison and Justin Langer (2006â07 Ashes series in Australia), âSeeing the Sunriseâ (mastering physical and mental goals).Â
On the âBaggy Green website,â he has a column called âLangerâs Postcards.â
According to Steve Waugh, Justine is the worldâs best batsman.
Justin has also worked with a stockbroking firm and is a successful entrepreneur.
He is a patron of the âChildrenâs Leukaemia & Cancer Researchâ in Western Australia.
As he has gone through a lot of research on the success methodologies, so, Langer is considered as a âSuccess Specialistâ in the Australian Cricket Team.
