His brother, Devon Travis, played baseball at Florida State University for coach Mike Martin.
After completing high school, Jordan Travis was ranked the 24th best dual-threat quarterback by 247Sports, an American athletic recruitment website.
He was then selected to play college football at Louisville, where he played only 3 games. He completed 4 out of 14 passes and ran for 40 yards.

On 22 December 2018, Jordan Travis announced that he was transferring to Florida State and played five seasons with the Florida State Seminoles football team.
