Jolly Mukherjee started his career as a backup singer in TV commercials.
He then penned down a song for British Airways.
He was inspired by his friend and popular singer Hariharan to make his career in singing. He was introduced to Hariharan by the tabla maestro Zakir Hussain .
He does not have any professional training in music.
While growing up, he used to practice singing by listening to the songs of various Indian singers like Kishor Kumar , Mohammad Rafi , Lata Mangeshkar , and Asha Bhosle .
