| Controversies | • Arrested in Japan In August 2023, he and his friend, Jeremiah Dwane Branch, went to Osaka City in Japan, where he went to an under-construction hotel and shouted 'Fukushima' to the people there. They were later arrested. Next month, he disrupted a restaurant during business hours after which he was arrested on the charge of obstruction of business. In January 2024, he was fined ¥200,000 ($1,400) and returned to the US.  • Arrested in Israel On 5 April 2024, he uploaded a vlog from the Western Wall in Jerusalem, adding photos of Adin Ross, Harvey Weinstein, and Jeffrey Epstein. He referred to Weinstein as one of his top Jews and made derogatory remarks about Ross, which led to his arrest and ban. Johnny Somali grew up in Arizona where he completed his studies. He later became a YouTuber.
His father is of Somali ethnicity, and his mother is of Ethiopian ethnicity.
He claims he was a foot soldier during childhood and had also been a Somali pirate, but these have never been confirmed.
In 2023, he started streaming videos from tours of different countries on YouTube, Kick, and Twitch.
He became famous after posting videos that often made fun of local culture and people. He often chanted anti-Japanese taunts in the Tokyo subway.

On 25 March 2024, he streamed a vlog from Tel Aviv, Israel. Johnny Somali regularly had verbal altercations with the local people who beat him.
He released a song titled Liar Liar in July 2024.

He later had many small altercations including fighting with a woman who stopped him from drinking alcohol in a convenience stall.
In November 2024, it was reported that South Korea had banned him from leaving the country until the cases against him were completely heard.
According to some rumours, he could be jailed for up to 10 years for his actions in South Korea.
After he received the backlash for kissing the statues of ‘comfort women,’ he later released a video apologizing to the local Korean people about his actions and said that he didn’t know the importance of those statues. Many people said it was a fake publicity stunt.
