Some Lesser Known Facts About Jijoy Rajagopal
Jijoy Pulikal Rajagopalan is an Indian film and theatre actor, who primarily works in the Malayalam film industry. He is also an associate professor in the acting department at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune.
According to Jijoy, he was interested in acting from a young age. He said in an interview,
I am a performer; I have been all my life.ā
Reportedly, Jijoy developed his artistic interest through music and theatre while he was studying in school. In his pre-degree, the actor was active in theatre and performed a number of plays. The theatre artist eventually earned the title of āKalaprathibaā after he secured seven times best actor in different university competitions.
Ā After completing a bachelorās degree at the School of Drama and Fine Arts, Thrissur, Jijoy worked in some films and serials, and later, he went to Pondicherry to pursue MA and M.Phil. in drama and theatre arts. Apparently, Jijoy was a gold medalist in both MA and M.Phil.
In 2005, Jijoy P. R. got the opportunity to act in a multilingual theatre rendition of the famous Shakespearean play āA Midsummer Nightās Dream.ā From April 2006 to December 2009, he played the roles of Oberon and Theseus in the play, which was directed by Mr Tim Supple (U.K). The play allowed the Malayalam actor to perform at 365 shows in 28 cities in six countries including the US, India, Australia, Japan, England, Italy, Canada, and more. In 2021, his Tamil-language drama film, āJai Bhim,ā was a super hit on the box office. Jijoy played a character named Rajesh Munnar in the movie.
