She has hosted the first, second, and third seasons of the TV show âBlack,â which is the first Indian reality show based on the visually challenged people.
She has played pivotal roles in the blockbuster films like âJayam Manaderaâ (2000), Raa, âFamily Circusâ (2001), âYagnamâ (2004), âBhadraâ (2005), âSri Krishnaâ (2006), âAshta Chamma-Heroine Auntâ (2008), âRachaâ (2012), âSaakshyamâ (2018), âMaharshiâ (2019), and âKousalya Krishnamurthyâ (2019).
In 2012, Jhansi revealed that she was suffering from Thoracic outlet syndrome. In an interview, while talking about her disease and her journey to the recovery, she said-
I could not even drape a saree all by myself or could not even lift the pen to write my weekly column for a Telugu newspaper. I was hosting a show a quiz show on ETV, but I was taking pain medication. However, it was Dr Sathya Lakshmi from Gandhi Naturocare Hospital who convinced me that my food is my medicine. I felt that it was worth a try and took her advice on food and nutrition seriously. In less than six months, I fully recovered.â
After being confronted with her disease, she took a short online certification course of Food and Health Connection from American Online Naturopathy.
Jhansi runs a wellness enterprise called âUzuri-Wellness with Jhansi,â which provides a 21-day wellness course. The term âUzuriâ means âhealth with beautyâ in the Swahili language.Â
She is an active philanthropist and works for many organizations such as UNICEF, LEPRA INDIA and Aarambh Association. She fights against various social evils such as AIDS, autism, environmental concerns, and women empowerment.
According to Jhansi, the novel âThe Motherâ by Maxim Gorky aroused the literary ambition in her, and âRootsâ by Alex Haley planted the social consciousness in her.
She is a fitness enthusiast and begins her day with yoga and a cup of herbal tea.Â
