Jennifer Paes aka Jennifer Dutton is a former Indian basketball player. She was the captain of the Indian national basketball team in 1982, and she participated in the 1972 Summer Olympics. She is the mother of Indian tennis player Leander Paes .
Jennifer’s parents belonged to Calcutta. Her great-grandfather, Michael Madhusudan Dutt, was a Bengali poet. Dutt was a rebel poet during the British Raj and was frequently detained by Britishers. Dutt was married twice (both times to English women) and had seven children.

Jennifer Paes’ maternal uncle, Garney Nyss, was a sportsperson who is known for representing India in field hockey, speed skating, athletics, cricket, badminton, and tennis. Indian hockey player Dhyan Chand used to call Nyss “a player from heaven,” which was a big honour for him.
