Some Lesser Known Facts About Jayalalithaa
Jayalalithaa’s original name was “Komalavalli”, which was later changed to “Jayalaithaa.”
Her father died when she was just 2 years old, and her brother died in the 90s.
She learned Bharatnatyam at the age of 3.
She was a bright student and even joined Stella Maris College in Chennai to study law but her mother wanted her to join the film industry, so she did so.
Her 1st film was released as an ‘adult only’. Because at that time she was only 15, she wasn’t able to watch her first movie in the theatre.
Before politics, she was a popular South Indian film actress and did a total of 140 films in Tamil, Kannada and Telugu languages.
She did her film Epistle (English) at the age of 13.
She was a trained dancer in different forms like Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Mohiniyattam and Manipuri.
In 1973, she won 3 Filmfare Awards for Best Actress for films like Pattikada Pattanama, ‘Suryakanthi and Sri Krishna Satya.
In 1968, she did a Hindi film Izzat opposite Dharmendra.
