In 2012, Jamie made headlines against Australia in the ICC U-19 World Cup when he bowled a spell with the speed of 93 mph (150 km/h) and dismissed their top order claiming 2 wickets in the match.
Jamie debuted for the Somerset County Cricket Club against Surrey in the 2012 Clydesdale Bank 40 tournament.
After playing for 8 years for Somerset, Jamie rejected their new contract and signed a three-year contract with Surrey County Cricket Club on 1 August 2020 ahead of the 2021 season.

In August 2020, Jamie while playing for Somerset, scored his maiden first-class century in the Bob Willis Trophy. He scored 120 runs off 92 balls after he came to bat at number 10, it was the highest score by a Somerset player at number 10.
Jamie was bought by the Manchester Originals for the 2022 season of The Hundred.
