Krishnaswamy was the vice-captain of the Indian football team and represented India in the 1956 Summer Olympics.
He was part of the team which defeated Australia 4-2 in the quarterfinals of the 1956 Summer Olympics, he scored a goal in that match.

In a rematch against Australia after the 1956 Olympics, Krishnaswamy scored 2 goals against them as India defeated Australia 7-1 in that match.
Krishnaswamy played under the coach Syed Abdul Rahim along with players like Neville D’Souza, Samar Banerjee, and P. K. Banerjee.
Krishnaswamy played for East Bengal FC in the 1950s and was part of the Europe Tour in 1953.
Krishnaswamy with the national team won the Colombo Cup in 1955.
After retirement, he managed the Indian football men’s and women’s teams, he took the women’s team to the finals of the 1980 AFC Women’s Championship and ended as the runner-up in the competition.
Krishnaswamy’s daughter played for the Indian football team and was part of the squad which participated in the 1980 AFC Women’s Championship.
