J. D. Chakravarthy is an Indian actor, film producer, director, screenwriter, music composer, and singer, known mainly for his work in South Indian films. He became widely popular with his lead role in the Hindi film âSatyaâ (1998).
He grew up in Rajahmundry, and from a very young age, he had a passion for acting. Despite his interest in acting, he pursued engineering in college because it was his motherâs wish.
J. D. Chakravarthy once tried to join the Adayar Institute for Films in Chennai to pursue his acting dreams, but they didnât accept his application.
He has acted in Telugu films like âLathiâ (1992), âMoney Moneyâ (1994), âGulabiâ (1995), âHomamâ (2008), âDynamiteâ (2015), and âHippiâ (2019).

Before the release of his film âSatya,â he shared that he received a call from the renowned Indian film producer Mani Ratnam . He said, Mani called him and said that someone wanted to talk to him. J. D. said,
That somebody took the phone and said, Salaam Alaikum. I said, Walekum Assalam, kaun bol rahe hain? The person said, Doesnât matter who is talking, just answer one question. If âSatyaâ is to become a disaster, what do you think we should do? I asked him, May I know your good name please? He said, Whatâs there in the name? I said, Itâs important. Tell me your name. He said, My name is Shah Rukh Khan.â

I am not blaming media. They highlight the issue which interests people and are good at sensationalizing a particular issue. There is no truth in the so called affair with Maheswari. But with our chemistry working in Gulabi, everyone started suspecting something. Had I had affair with Maheswari, I am not the kind to let her go in such a manner. We are just good friends and moved closely.â
In an interview, he shared that once when he was at Maheshwariâs home for lunch, Srideviâs mother asked him to marry her daughter.
In 2019, during the promotion of his film âHippi,â J. D. Chakravarthy went half-naked in response to a question from an audience member who asked him to explain the meaning of âHippi.â
