Controversies	Road Accident in Patna Ishan Kishan and his father was involved in a road accident on 12 January 2016 in the Kankarbagh area of Patna. Ishan Kishan is an Indian cricketer who is known for hitting big sixes and scoring quick runs as an opener. He has played in many tournaments for the Indian national team and many IPL seasons for Mumbai Indians (MI). He is the youngest cricketer to make an ODI double-century.
He showed an interest in cricket since his childhood, and a few months after he was born in Nawada, his parents, along with him, to Patna so that he could continue playing cricket.
Ishan’s elder brother, Raj, also used to play cricket and Ishan used to accompany him to cricket matches; however, once, he and Raj went to Uttam Majumdar’s cricket academy where Majumdar saw Ishan for the first time and was so impressed with Ishan that he told Ishan’s father to never stop Ishan from playing cricket.

His coach, Uttam Mazumdar, made him undergo hard practice which included 300 throw-downs followed by 250 front-foot and 250 back-foot shadow practice strokes. Uttam said that he wanted to make Ishan a good back-foot player and made him practice all types of shots including pull, cut, and square drive.

He initially studied at Delhi Public School (DPS); however, he had to quit that as he was busy practising and playing cricket. At the tender age of 7, he led his school team for the School World Cup in Aligarh.

He was selected for the Patna Under-16 team and played for them in the All India School Games when he was only 11 years old. He wanted to play for Bihar; however, there were some registration issues between Bihar Cricket Association and BCCI due to which no cricketer from Bihar could represent the state in the domestic circuit.

He went to Rachi, Jharkhand to pursue his cricketing aspirations where he started playing for SAIL (Steel Authority of India Ltd.) and got a one-room quarter to live. He lived in the quarter with four senior players who used to cook food for him as he did not know cooking. He was given the task of storing water and cleaning dishes.

Once Ishan’s father visited him in Ranchi, and a neighbour told his father that Ishan did not eat enough food on many days and lived on fast food such as chips and cold drinks for many days as seniors went away to practice or play. Upon hearing this, Ishan’s father rented a flat for him in Ranchi where he started living with his mother.

He played for many age group teams and corporate teams while living in Ranchi and was selected for the Jharkhand team in the Ranji trophy at the age of 15 years. During the 2017-18 Ranji season, he scored 484 runs in 6 matches and emerged as the highest runscorer for Jharkhand. In the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he made 405 runs in 9 matches.
