Indu Sonali grew up in a middle-class family.
Since childhood, she was inclined towards singing. During her school days, she participated in various singing competitions.
For the first time, she sang publically in a jagran at a temple.
She then started performing in various stage shows.
Initially, she did not know the Bhojpuri language, but gradually, she started learning the language.
She considers the Bhojpuri singer Sharda Sinha her idol.
She also adores the Indian singers Lata Mangeshkar , Asha Bhosle , Alka Yagnik , Sadhana Sargam , and Kavita Krishnamurthy .

She has lent her voice to more than 500 Bhojpuri songs. Some of her popular Bhojpuri songs are “Saiya Jable Pakadba Rajdhani,” “Beri Beri Barjile,” “Hara Patta Paan,” “Humke Sasura Se Tu Bolbaala Babuji,” and “TivhhzzRe Balma.”
Her song in the Bhojpuri film “Pandit Ji Bataai Na Biyaah Kab Hoi” became very popular.
