Harshita Goyal grew up in Vadodara, Gujarat. Her family moved there from Hisar, Haryana, as her father got a job at a private company there.

After earning a Bachelor of Commerce from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, she pursued chartered accountancy.
Harshita later began preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams, as it was her father’s dream to see her become an IAS officer.
She attempted the UPSC exams twice but could not clear the prelims either time.
Harshita then began preparing for the 2024 UPSC examination and cleared the prelims. For the UPSC Mains, she chose Political Science and International Relations as her optional subjects.
Unlike most UPSC aspirants who usually disconnect from social media entirely, Harshita used it purposefully by following pages that provided valuable knowledge that contributed to her exam preparation.
Harshita was diagnosed with typhoid just a week before the UPSC Mains exam. Despite that, she went on to secure AIR 2 in the finals, which earned her the rank of an IAS.
Harshita once participated in the Gujarat Youth Parliament and worked with the Ministry of Law and Justice.
Harshita Goyal believes in contributing to society and has closely worked with Ahmedabad’s Believe Foundation, an NGO supporting thalassemia and cancer patients.
