Gus Atkinson is an English cricketer who became famous when he made the record for the best bowling performance on his T20I debut for England. He is regarded as one of the most talented pacers for his fast bowling speed and variations.
He was interested in cricket since his childhood and used to play cricket in his locality. He trained with different coaches inclduing Shaun Seigert, R66T Academy High-Performance Director, and Darren Lehmann Cricket Academy in Adelaide, Australia in 2016.

He played cricket for different teams for a decade from 2011 to 2022 which included many age group teams for Surrey. Three successive stress fractures in his back in 2017, 2018, and 2019 halted his progress as he failed to play cricket consistently and perform well in different competitions.

He made his first-class debut for Surrey on 8 August 2020 against Essex in the 2020 Bob Willis Trophy. On 28 August 2020, he made his Twenty20 debut for Surrey against Sussex in the 2020 T20 Blast Tournament.
