In 1961, he became the Karyakarta and Nagar Karyavah of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
In 1972, he was appointed as the Sambhag Pramukh of the Udaipur Vidyarthi Parishad.
In 1974, he was appointed as the State Secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and in 1975, he became the State President of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
Before he became a politician, he worked as a teacher.
