Some Lesser Known Facts About George Veikoso
As a child, he enjoyed singing in church and performing at community events.
His first paid singing show earned him $5 from the audience.
His uncles, Isireli Racule, who worked on Elvis Presley’s ‘Drums of the Islands,’ Fijian jazz celebrity Sakiusa Bulicokocoko, and Paul Stevens, helped him choose music as a career.
In 1987, he joined the Fijian band Rootstrata but left the same year and moved to Hawaii from Fiji after the 1987 Fijian political unrest.
He released several albums during his career, including Evolution (1994) and Born and Raised (1996).
Some of his popular songs include Lia, Smokin’ Session, and Good Thing.
He co-wrote and sang the theme song ‘Let Me Be the One’ for the television show Baywatch Season 11 and acted in the surfer film Blue Crush in 2002.
