Some Lesser Known Facts About Geniben Thakor
Geniben had become the President of Taluka Panchayat before the 10th class.
Geniben contested the Gujarat legislative assembly election in 2012 from the Vav constituency but lost by a margin of 11,911 votes to Shankar Chaudhary.
In 2017, Geniben contested and won the Gujarat legislative assembly election from the Vav constituency by a margin of 6,655 votes.

In 2019, Geniben supported the views of the Thakor community to ban the use of mobile phones for girls who are not married. She, in an interview, said,
There is nothing wrong with the move to ban the use of mobiles for girls. They should stay away from social media and spend more time in studies.”
In, 2022, she was re-elected from the Vav constituency in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections by defeating Swarupji Thakor of BJP.
In 2024, Geniben made history after she won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Banaskantha constituency in Gujarat. She was the only INC candidate to win from Gujarat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and ended the 10-year drought of Congress to win a seat in Gujarat since 2009.
