Gavin Casalegno began his career as a model when he was just a toddler. According to him, his mother’s friend suggested an agency to his mother for him where he began working as a model at the age of four. He worked there for four years after which he began appearing for auditions for acting.
He also claims that his career began with an interview with his school newspaper, the Lovejoy High School Red Ledger, in 2014.
Later, he moved to Los Angeles; however, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he moved back to Texas.
In 2012, he appeared in an American religious film I am Gabriel. In the film, he played the role of angel Gabriel.

In 2015, he appeared in the seventh episode of season 7 of the American fantasy drama series The Vampire Diaries. In the show, he played the role of Damon Salvatore played by Ian Somerhalder .
