Some Lesser Known Facts About Gargi Kundu
Gargi Kundu grew up in a lower-middle-class Bengali family in Kolkata.
Along with her studies, she was also inclined towards acting and dance as a child.

She joined the Academy of Indian Classical & Bollywood Dance, where she learned Bharatnatyam, folk dance, and Bollywood dance.
She was also a member of the Nandikar theatre group.

In 2016, she enrolled at Vidyasagar College of Optometry and Vision Sciences (VCOVS) in Kolkata to pursue a Bachelor of Optometry, graduating on 20 July 2020.
While studying at VCOVS, Kolkata, she actively performed in plays for the college’s annual functions.

On 1 July 2019, she joined Susrut Eye Foundation & Research Centre in Kolkata as an intern.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked on the front lines as a medical professional. Seeing so much suffering around her inspired her to make positive acting videos, which quickly went viral.

Soon, her viral videos led to opportunities in the Bengali entertainment industry.
Gargi has appeared in many television series, including Zee Bangla’s ‘Uma’ (2021) and ‘Ram Krishnaa’ (2023).

She has also worked in a few films, such as ‘Aay Khuku Aay’ (2022) and ‘Kolkata Chalantika’ (2022).

Apart from films and television shows, she has also appeared in OTT projects, including Addatimes’ Avishapto (also known as Abhishapto) (2023) and Revelflix’s Protishruti (2023).

In 2025, Gargi Kundu participated as a contestant in the reality show ‘The Society,’ which premiered on JioCinema. The show was hosted by comedian and rapper Munawar Faruqui .

She is so emotional that her co-contestants on ‘The Society’ nicknamed her ‘Cry Baby.’
Gargi Kundu has often faced unkind remarks about her skin tone and appearance. On ‘The Society,’ some co-contestants mocked her for not speaking fluent English and even asked if she had “come from a village.”
