Some Lesser Known Facts About Gaganjeet Bhullar
He started playing golf when he was 6 years old after he was introduced to golf by his father at the Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala.
His father has represented India at the Asian Games in the 400m race. He was also on the probable list of Olympic athletes but couldn’t qualify.
His mother is a national-level high jumper.
When he was 9 years old, he participated in his first junior and sub-junior events.
He became a part of India’s amateur squad when he was 16 years old.
He was ranked no. 1 in 2004 and 2006 as an amateur golf player in India.
In 2013, he established the Gaganjeet Bhullar Foundation to support underprivileged kids.
Through his NGO, Bhullar has adopted the Kandila village in the Gurdaspur district and helps the village by providing resources like drinking water, solar power and bioenergy.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he donated solar panels to 10 families in the Kandila village.
In 2014, he injured his wrist, forcing him to miss 8 tournaments.
In 2019, he won the BMW M8 Coupé during the BMW International Open after scoring a hole-in-one shot from a distance of 196 yards (179 metres).
