| Controversies | Jailed for murder In 1996, a 15-year old girl named Okia Toomer attacked Felicia Pearson with a baseball bat, who was only 14 years old. Person didn't know Toomer, but shot her dead in a bid to save herself. She was sentenced to two eight-year terms, to be served consecutively, at the Maryland Correctional Institution for Women in Jessup, Maryland. The jail was also known as Grandma's House, after a prisoner who had killed her grandmother. She was released early, after six and a half years. Arrested on drug charges Baltimore police officials arrested her and 60 other people in after raids on her house and finding narcotics (drugs there). She was accused of funding the entire operation of bringing drugs and selling it to make money. Judge John Addison Howard refused bail to her and commented, "Well, you can change your appearance, I've seen the episodes of The Wire in which you appear. You look very different than you do here today, and I'm not talking about the jumpsuit, I'm talking about your general appearance." On 8 April 2011, she was given a bail for $50,000. One day before the case was set to begin for charges in August 2011, she pleaded guilty following which she received a suspended 7-year jail term, with credit for time served and 3 years of supervised probation. |

Some Lesser Known Facts About Felicia Pearson
Felicia Pearson was born 3 months premature and weighed only 1.4 kgs (3 pounds). Her mother was a crack addict, and her father was an armed robber and both were drug addicts.
She was so small that the doctors fed her with an eyedropper before starting to feed her normally.
When she was 4 years old, she went to meet her biological mother who stripped her clothes, locked her in a closet, and sold her clothes to buy drugs.
She often fought with other children who teased her for being cross-eyed and not having a mother.
She was raised in an East Baltimore foster home and later adopted her foster family’s surname. Her foster mother, Cora Pearson, a church-going woman and foster father, Levi, a handyman lived at Oliver Street and Montford Avenue.

She was a tomboy from a young age and even sold drugs, but was jailed when she was 14 years old.

To avoid the negativity of prison, she started studying GED (General Educational Development), secretly dated a female prison officer, and regularly met Arnold Loney, her uncle.
Loney first met her when she was young. He served as her father figure while selling drugs often protecting her and also teaching her different ways to make money without getting caught.
He had given her the nickname Snoopy based on the character Snoopy in the comic show Peanuts.

During the 2nd year of her prison sentence, she received the news that Loney was shot dead. It made her feel peaceful as she decided she had passed the toughest part of her life and wanted to change her life for good.
She had completed her GED while serving her prison sentence. After getting released in 2000, she got a local job making car bumpers.

Two weeks later, her employer found out about her prison record and fired her.
She later worked other jobs such as at a car wash.
In the 2000s, she introduced herself to the actor Michael K. Williams at Club One, a Baltimore nightclub. He then took her to the sets of the TV series ‘The Wire.’

A producer of the show, Ed Burns, told her to come back a week later for a role. But she went to New York for Pride Week, where Police arrested her and her friends for travelling in a stolen car, which they didn’t know.
After 2 weeks, she got the role of a gang member named Snoop which was liked by fans.
Noted American author Stephen King even called her ‘perhaps the most terrifying female villain to ever appear in a television series.‘
She later worked in many films directed by Spike Lee, such as Da Sweet Blood of Jesus in 2014 and Chi-Raq in 2015.

She also participated in the 7th and 8th seasons of reality series Love & Hip Hop: New York, aired on VH1.
She released her autobiographical book, Grace After Midnight, in 2007, written in partnership with David Ritz.

She and Jamie Hector founded a youth group named Moving Mountains Inc. later that helped children interested in arts get off the streets of Baltimore and New York.
She has also appeared in many music videos including The Boss by Rick Ross in 2008 and So Many Pros by Snoop Dogg in 2015.
She has also volunteered as a prison visitor and a supporter of The Stay Strong Foundation, working on anti-violence and literacy campaigns for the youth.
In 2022, after the death of Michael Williams, she lent her voice to the final 3 episodes of season 2 of the Black Market show as a tribute to him.
She has openly declared that she is lesbian and a supporter of such homosexual communities.
