Some Lesser Known Facts About Dushyant Dave
He got enrolled with the Bar in 1978, beginning his legal practice in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where he specialized in civil and constitutional matters.
In 1980, he moved to Delhi in order to expand his legal practice and he started appearing regularly before the Supreme Court of India.
During his practice at the apex court in Delhi, he appeared in several pivotal constitutional and public interest matters, alongside a prolific practice in arbitration.
In 1994, he was appointed as a Senior Advocate by the Supreme Court of India.
He was known as a leading voice in the constitutional law, public interest litigation, and human rights.
In 2004, he served as a member of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), where he contributed to initiatives for free legal aid and justice accessibility.
He was appointed as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) for three times in the years 2014, 2019, and 2020.
In January 2021, Dave resigned from his position as SCBA President.
In December 2024, in an interview he expressed his concern over the state of the judiciary and the erosion of secular values in India.
On 13 July 2025, he formally took retirement from legal practice after completing 48 years in legal profession, he stated that he wanted to give opportunity to younger lawyers.
