Dr Shobha Vijender was born into a family with a background in social work.
It was her father who instilled a sense of social responsibility in her at a young age.
Shobha’s mother always encouraged her to be independent and self-reliant.
In 1993, Dr. Shobha founded a non-governmental organization named Sampurna with an aim to empower the womanhood. The organisation follows the principle of complete development and provides full support to women and children.
As the President and founder of Sampurna, Dr. Shobha Vijender supports victims of domestic violence, promotes education, and advocates for women’s rights.

Through Sampurna, Shobha has worked closely with various communities to promote self-sufficiency, awareness, and health education.

In 2019, there were allegations that Shobha’s NGO Sampurna received disproportionately large amounts of funding from the MCD, while her husband Vijender Gupta served as the councillor of MCD. It was also claimed that the NGO had used MCD-allotted space for commercial purposes.
