Some Lesser Known Facts About Dr GV Krishna Reddy
Dr GV Krishna Reddy is the founder and chairman of GVK, a diversified business conglomerate with a predominant focus on infrastructure development.
Guided by his vision and leadership, GVK has successfully implemented milestone projects in record time, including Indiaâs first Independent Power Project at Jegurupadu, Andhra Pradesh; Indiaâs first six-lane expressway connecting Jaipur-Kishangarh, Rajasthan, and the renovation and modernization of Mumbaiâs international airport.
Foraying into tourism, a domain that excited him, Dr GV Krishna Reddy successfully collaborated with the Taj Group of Hotels to launch and operate the Taj GVK hospitality chain comprising four luxury hotels in Hyderabad and one each at Chandigarh, Chennai, and Mumbai.
However, a project close to his heart is the formation of GVK EMRI, which is setting benchmarks in the field of emergency response services across India.
It is the only organized, professional, and free emergency service provider in the country operating the 108 Emergency Response Service in 15 states and 2 Union Territories.
Employing around 50,000 people, the service covers 850 million people and saves lakhs of lives annually through its 14,000 state-of-the-art ambulances.
In July 2016, GVK EMRI Lanka began its operations of the 1900 Suwaseriya service in collaboration with the Government of Sri Lanka, with assistance from the Government of India.
In July 2018, the service was expanded nationwide by the Sri Lankan Government with technical knowhow from GVK EMRI.
Passionate about community outreach, Dr GV Krishna Reddy is actively involved in the GVK Foundation.
He donated part of his ancestral land and also funded the construction of the GVK ChinmayaVidyalaya, a front-ranking school affiliated to the CBSE board run by the Chinmaya Mission in the Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh.
Given his passion for Lawn Tennis, the foundation established a tennis academy in Hyderabad to encourage and develop budding talent in India.
The GVK Foundation has also funded the establishment of a state-of-the-art Radiology Department at St. Josephâs Hospital, Nellore.
