Dinesh Bana is a wicketkeeper and batsman who plays for the Indian cricket team at the Under-19 level. He has also represented Haryana in the domestic game.
Dinesh is a student in the 12th standard. He scored 85% marks in the 10th standard and is extremely good at reading.
His father, Dinesh Bana, who is retired from the army and serves as a head constable in Haryana Police, said that he never stopped Dinesh from playing although he wanted him to become an engineer. He started practising at St. Sophia Sports Academy, Haryana in 2012. His coach Ranveer Jakhar says that Dinesh has always idolised former cricketer Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. He had scored 20 runs in four balls while batting fiercely with a strike rate of 500, which includes 2 sixes and 2 fours. This made him the first cricketer in the world to score runs from only boundaries by playing 4 or more balls in any category of men’s or women’s or under-19 cricket.
In the Under-19 World Cup final, Dinesh successfully proved his worth by hitting 2 sixes in 2 consecutive balls of fast bowler James Sales of England. He remained unbeaten on 13 runs off 5 balls and also managed to take 4 catches.
