| Controversy | On 10 January 2022, actress Bhavana Menon took to social media to share an incident when she was allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted five years before. The alleged attack took place in 2017 when she was returning home after a shooting assignment on the outskirts of Kochi, Kerala, and she was abducted by a criminal gang in a closed van. Dileep born and brought up in Aluva, Kerala, India.
Initially, he worked as a mimicry artist at Kalabhavan (centre for learning performing arts in Kochi).
After that, he performed in Asianet’s comedy show ‘Comicola.’
He later worked as an assistant director for the Malayalam film ‘Ulladakkam’ (1991), directed by Kamal.
He got a breakthrough role as an actor in 1992 in the Malayalam film ‘Ennodishtam Koodamo.’
He worked in different languages like Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, and Kannada.
He also gave his voice in Onam-based comic album ‘De Maveli Kombathu.’
Dileep produced the multi-starrer Malayalam film ‘Twenty:20’ (2008) under his own home Production ‘Graand Productions’ to raise funds for the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA).
In 2011, he got his first Kerala State Best Actor Award for his performance in the Malayalam film ‘Vellaripravinte Changathi.’
He is also a great singer and sung several songs like Theme Music of film ‘Chandranudikkunna Dikkil’ (1999), Onnaam Malakeri of film ‘Kalyaanaraaman’ (2002), Saare Saare of film ‘Thilakkam’ (2003), Kandaal Njaanoru of film ‘Sound Thoma’ (2012), and Ashakoshale Pennundo of film ‘Sringaaravelan’ (2013).
On 10 July 2017, he was arrested by the Kerala State Police for conspiracy for a rape attempt on an Indian film actress.
