Digvijay Deshmukh is a professional Indian cricketer.
When Digvijay was a kid, his family moved to Mumbai so that they could provide him with better training in cricket. He used to train at MIG Cricket Club Academy in Mumbai.
Deshmukh’s father is a teacher in school while his mother is a homemaker.
He played the role of lead child actor Ali in “Kai Po Che” (2013), starring the late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput . Here is a scene from the movie:
Back then, when shooting for the film ended in 2012, 15-year-old Deshmukh promised Sushant Rajput that from then onwards, he would meet him only after achieving something big in his cricketing career. However, he could not fulfil his promise because of the actor’s sudden death in June 2020. Speaking about it, he said,
He was passionate about cricket. On the last day of the shoot, I had promised him I’d not meet him till I became a decent level cricketer. This year, when I got selected to play for Mumbai Indians, I decided to meet him, but then the lockdown happened and now he is no more. I wish the lockdown wouldn’t have been there, at least then I would have been able to fulfil the promise I made to him. I failed to do so. I wanted to keep the promise. I regret it.”

After the success of Kai Po Che, Digvijay was offered a few TV commercials; however, he declined them as he did not want his focus to deviate from cricket.
On 12 November 2019, he started off his domestic career, playing his first T20 match for Maharashtra in the 2019-20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In that season, he played seven matches and took nine wickets.

In a short time, his performances in domestic cricket matches brought him in the spotlight. Consequently, he was picked by the Mumbai Indians for 20 lakh INR in the auction ahead of the IPL 2020.
