Dharmendra Solanki is an Indian politician and Biraha singer; Biraha is an ethnic Bhojpuri folk genre of Ahir communities in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand in India He is a member of the Samajwadi Party.
Dharmendra Solanki grew up in a family of farmers in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh.

When Dharmendra was 13 years old, his father, Murli Lal, passed away following which he started singing Biraha for the subsistence of his family.
Dharmendra Solanki started singing Biraha for the Samajwadi Party when Mulayam Singh Yadav invited him to a rally to sing Biraha, where he sang a Biraha titled “Cycle Hamhu Chalaib Akhilesh Ke Papa Delhi Leke Chal Jaib.”
Following his father’s demise, he quit his studies midway; however, he later completed his graduation after the family’s financial condition became stable.
Dharmendra Solanki met Akhilesh Yadav for the first time when Solanki was around 23-34 years old.

On 22 March 2021, Akhilesh Yadav appointed Dharmendra Solanki State President of the party’s Cultural Cell.
Dharmendra Solanki has won many Biraha singing competitions including Birha Mukabla on “Big Ganga” that he won, and for which he received a cheque of Rs. 2 lakh from Akhilesh Yadav.
