  • Deepak Baij is an Indian politician. He became a member of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament, after winning the 2019 Indian general election. He represents the Bastar constituency in the state of Chhattisgarh. He is a member of the Indian National Congress party.

  • In 2008, Deepak Baij was elected as the Bastar district president of the National student organisation of India. In the following year, the Indian Youth Congress appointed him as its General Secretary.

  • Deepak Baij served the Lohandiguda Block Congress Committee from 2009 to 2011. After then, he was appointed as the full-time President of the Block Congress Committee from 2012 to 2014.

  • In 2013, Deepak Baij was elected as a Member of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly from Chitrakoot constituency.

  • Deepak Baij once visited a public problem-solving camp in Chitapur village in 2018. He was in the news when he became furious after he saw dirty water flowing from a borehole. To express his anger, he drank the water himself and even offered it to an officer. The MLA had been informed that the residents of Chhindwara village had been compelled to drink reddish water from the borehole for several years. Consequently, he went to the village and collected a sample of the contaminated water in a bottle.

  • On 6 June 2019, Deepak Baij was appointed as a Member of Parliament in Lok Sabha from Bastar Constituency. In the same year, he was appointed as the national vice president of the All Indian Tribal Congress Committee.

  • In 2020, Deepak Baij received a death threat from an unknown Maoist.

  • In June 2022, Deepak Baij and several other Congress party leaders were detained by Delhi police in a protest against the Enforcement Directorate of India.
