Some Lesser Known Facts About David Koechner
He was raised in a catholic family.
He belongs to German, Irish, and English ancestry.
He started working for his father in his turkey coop (cage) manufacturing business when he was 7 years old. He worked there regularly after school for 5 cents an hour.
Growing up in a small town, he often felt out of place and decided to move out of his home when he was only 10 years old.
Once, as a punishment for annoying his siblings during the family trip, his parents made him get out of their car and run beside it.
He started drinking when he was 10 years old and had trouble with alcoholism for more than 50 years of his life.
He studied Political Science in college but dropped out after the third year.
He talked about his reason for dropping out of college because of lacking a political background and money in an interview and said,
To be in politics, you either need to come from a political family, youāre incredibly wealthy, or youāre the smartest person in any room you walk into. I was none of those things.ā
After dropping out of college, he became interested in improvisational comedy and joined the ImprovOlympic (now known asĀ iO Theater), an improv theatre and training centre in central Chicago, U.S.A.
He studied improvisation under Del Close, a famous improvisation coach of well-known comedians and comic actors.
He is an alumnus of The Second City, an improvisational theatre troupe in Chicago.

In 1995, he joined SNL (Saturday Night Live), an American late-night live sketch comedy show, and worked there for a year.
In 1999, he joined his SNL colleague David āGruberā Allen and formed a musical comedy act, called āThe Naked Trucker and T-Bones Show.ā David Koechner played the role of Gerald āT-Bonesā Tibbons.

He has starred in several films, including āAnchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundyā (2004), āThank You for Smokingā (2005), āThe Comebacksā (2007),Ā and āPricelessā (2016).
