Once he did a broadcast on a streaming app called Bigo Live. The app was popular in Southeast Asia. On the app, he gained a fan base in Malaysia and Indonesia. At that time, Kim was unaware that Malaysia and Indonesia were home to many Muslims. Earlier, he belived the stereotypes that Muslim men were scary and Muslim women were mysterious (as they wore a Hijab). Meanwhile, his father lost his job. Therefore, Kim had to quit his career in music and start working as a cashier at a convenience store to support his family.
In January 2019, he posted a video on his channel titled âWhy am I interested in Islam?â In the video, he shared that he was non-religious and educating himself on the religion.
In September 2019, Kim changed his faith to Islam and gained popularity for sharing his journey as a Muslim convert on YouTube.
He would also interview various Muslims and Muslim converts.

In July 2021, Kim separated from his wife, Mia, who accused him of domestic abuse. In a video, Mia said that she had filed for a divorce and that Kim had fled to Turkey to postpone the court hearings. Mia also claimed that Kim forced her to convert to Islam when she was pregnant with her first child.
A year after the divorce she posted a video saying that Kim was not paying alimony to her.
