Some Lesser Known Facts About Dana Brooke
Before entering the world of bodybuilding and pro-wrestling, Ashley Mae Sebera, better known by her ring name, Dana Brooke, was a Gymnast. In an interview, she revealed that she had joined a gymnastic center at a mere age of 2 and as she grew up, she aspired to represent her country at the Olympics.
Her dream of making it big in gymnastics partially came true when she qualified for the Junior Olympics in 2001. However, the same year she had a career-threatening injury on her right ankle which needed immediate reconstructive surgery. As a result, she had to call it a career and her dream of representing the nation at the ‘bigger’ Olympics couldn’t come true.
She then briefly took up the sport of Diving and even secured a district title in the same. However, she did not find the sport challenging enough and decided to opt for bodybuilding and fitness. Therefore, she obtained her International Federation of BodyBuilding & Fitness (IFBB) pro card in fitness in 2012.
As a bodybuilder, she secured the 12th and the 13th position at the 2013 European Arnold Classic and the 2015 edition of the Arnold Sports Festival, respectively.
Brooke’s presence at various bodybuilding competitions caught the eye of WWE’s hiring agents and thus began her pro-wrestling journey.
After Dolph Ziggler and The Miz , Dana Brooke is the third WWE superstar from Ohio on the main roster.
Bodybuilder Dallas McCarver, Brooke’s boyfriend, aged 26, was found dead in his Florida home in August 2017. The Police stated ‘choking on food’ as the cause of death, overruling the possibility of any foul play.
