Some Lesser Known Facts About Chinelle Henry

  • Chinelle is a great fan of AB de Villiers and has grown up watching him play cricket since her childhood.

  • During her childhood, Chinelle’s father wanted her to become an athlete, but she was more inclined towards cricket. She said in an interview,

I could really run back in the day and my dad took me to one of the best track schools in Jamaica. One fine day, I got up and was like, ‘This is not for me. I don’t want to do this.’ “I just wanted to play cricket. I was happiest chasing cricket balls. My dad eventually gave in to what made me happy. He supported me fully. When he’d pick me up from school and watch me play cricket, he’d often be furious but kept asking if I was sure this was what I wanted to do.

  • Chinelle started playing for Jamaica at age 13. She played for Jamaica’s senior team in 2008 and was selected to play in Jamaica’s under 19 team in 2009.

  • In July 2021, Chinelle collapsed during an ongoing T20I match between West Indies and Pakistan at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua. She was immediately taken to the hospital, where she was reported to be stable.
