Cheslie Kryst was an American model who is known for winning the title of Miss USA in 2019.

Her father was Polish American, and her mother was African American. In 2002, her mother won the crown of Mrs North Carolina US when Kryst was young.

According to Kryst, she was a nerdy student in school and did not have many friends. She also added that people knew her just because her mother was famous.
While she was pursuing her graduation, she was also part of the Alpha Lambda Delta honour society, Gamecocks womenās track and field team, and mock trial in college.

After her graduation, she received a license to practice law in North Carolina and South Carolina. She started working as an attorney at Poyner Spruill LLP in 2017. She also worked for free to help the people who were drug offenders. She had also worked with famous American advocate Brittany K. Barnett to help release a person from life imprisonment.

She took part in Miss North Carolina pageant from the Metrolina area two times, but she reached the top ten in the first attempt, and she became the first runner-up during the second attempt. She won the title in 2015.

When she was pursuing graduation, she was also an athlete. In an interview, she talked about this and said,
I was a Division I athlete for four years at the University of South Carolina. For two years, I competed in the heptathlon and during my sophomore year a couple of injuries ended my season earlyāspinal stress fractures and a partially torn PCL. I switched events to complete my junior and senior seasons, landing top ten in the record books for the triple jump.ā

Kryst contested for the title of Miss North Carolina USA for three years in 2016, where she became the fourth runner-up, 2017, where she reached the top ten, and in 2019, when she won the title. In an interview, she talked about attempting so many times and said,
The year that I competed as Miss North Carolina USA was my last year of eligibility. And I thought, I donāt want to get to the age of 40 and look back and think, if I could have competed, I wonder what would have happened? I didnāt want that feeling of regret. Iāve had that feeling because I didnāt try or didnāt work hard enough or just didnāt give myself a chance. And I just didnāt want to feel that ever again.ā

In 2019, she represented North Carolina at Miss USA 2019 which was held in Reno, Nevada. She won the title and became the third woman from North Carolina to hold the title of Miss USA. She also became the oldest woman to win the title of Miss USA at the age of twenty-eight. She was also a part of the group of five black women who won the title of Miss Universe, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, Miss World, and Miss America for the first time in 2019.
After winning the title, she used to volunteer in the āDress for Successā campaign by writing a blog named āWhite Collar Glamā for women on how to dress professionally at the workplace.
In 2019, she represented the USA at the Miss Universe 2019 competition but was placed in the top ten in the pageant.
In October 2019, she became a New York correspondent for celebrity news channel Extra. She interviewed many American celebrities like Rihanna , Dwayne Johnson , and Oprah Winfrey .

On 30 January 2022, reportedly, she died after she fell from the 29th-floor terrace of her building in Midtown Manhattan. It was reported that she left a suicide note and gave all her belongings to her mother. Her family talked about her death and said,
In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie. Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined.ā
On 31 January 2022, Miss Universe 2021, Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu , expressed grief at Cheslieās demise. In an Instagram post, she shared a picture with Cheslie and wrote,
This is heartbreaking and unbelievable, you were always an inspiration to many. Rest In Peace Cheslie.ā

She also served on the National Board of Directors for the organization Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
Kryst had curly hair, and she was proud to represent herself in her natural hair at Miss USA 2019. In an interview, she talked about her hair and said,
Although more women are competing with natural hair nowadays, there still arenāt many. So, I was a little bit worried and anxious about doing it, but I thought, āI want to do it as the most real and authentic me,ā and thatās really what my hair represents.ā
