Some Lesser Known Facts About Charan Singh Pathik
He completed his primary education from his village, Nadoti, Karauli, Rajasthan. Then, he went to Hindaun and Bhawani Mandi, in Rajasthan to undergo his further studies.
After completing his studies, he took teacherâs training to become a teacher.
In an interview, he revealed that he has a huge family and has around 150 to 200 family members. To our surprise, he further told that all of them live together in the same area.
He revealed in an interview that he wanted to become a cricketer but could not. He wanted to play in the Ranji Trophy.
He used to read magazines like Filmy Kaliya, Kadambini, Sarika, etc and used to think that after completing his BA, he would try his luck in the film industry. He applied both in the FTII, Pune and National School of Drama, but his form got cancelled in both the institutes because he was in the final year of his college and was not a graduate then.
On being pressurized by his parents, he joined the teacherâs training course; as his parents did not consider the film industry a good profession.
Once, he was on the bed rest for some days due to health issues, so, he wrote a story during that time, âGauri Babu Ke Sapne,â which he later sent to Weekly Hindustan (a weekly magazine), but the story could not be published in it.
He then started with a daily newspaper of Rajasthan. He used to write stories, articles, and poems for the newspapers.

When he got his first posting in Pratapgarh Rajasthan, he started applying for the magazines like Madhuri, Kadambini, Navjyoti, and many more. He told in an interview that after 20 days, they would send his poems and articles back to him with an advice to apply somewhere else. This happened for a long time.
After some time his first story was published in Rajasthan Magazine and from there started his journey of a recognized writer.
In 1998, he got famous because of his story âBakhad,â which won âNavjyoti Katha Samman.â After that, people used to wait for his new stories to get published.
He wrote three books; âBaat Yeh Nahi Thi (2005),â âPipal Ke Phool (2010),â and âGoru ka Laptop Aur Gorkee Ki Bhains (2014);â comprising 10 stories in each, the books got him fame and various accolades.
In 2012, director Vishal Bhardwaj was in Jaipur for the âJaipur Literature Festivalâ, Charan Singh went to meet him. Vishal was surrounded by the media, but when Charan Singh introduced himself to Vishal, he immediately stopped the conference; as he had read Charanâs stories already. They talked for hours and Vishal promised Charan that one day he would definitely work with him.

On 15 March 2017, Vishal Bhardwaj booked a flight for Charan Singh to Mumbai, and together, they drafted the storyline for the film, Patakha; after making some minor changes in the original script written by Charan Singh.

In 2018, during the shoot of the film, âPatakhaâ starring Sanya Malhotra and Radhika Madan  in the lead roles, and Vijay Raaz as their father, Charan revealed that it was 12 years ago he wrote the story of two fighting sisters and titled it âTwo Sisters.â
His another story, âKasaiâ has also been chosen to be made into a film.
