Chandru Raheja was born into a business-oriented family in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
His father Lachmandas Raheja founded the K. Raheja Group in 1956. Later, the family separated and the property was divided into three parts among Chandruâs brothers.
Chandru Raheja established his own real estate business after separating from his brothers in 1996.
He started his business as a real estate developer, and now he is a well-known face of the diversified industry. He also runs the Shoppers Stop (an Indian department store chain) and Crossword (an outlet store).Â
He has extensive experience of four decades in the real estate, retail, and hospitality industries.
In 2008, he was featured in the list of Indian Billionaires, for the first time, in the Forbes Magazine with the net worth of $1.5 Billion.
